Mr. Hughes is a native of Pueblo, Colorado where he attended school and
graduated from South High School. Mr. Hughes graduated from the University of Southern Colorado in 1986 with a degree
in Political Science and later graduated from the University of Denver College Of Law in 1989.
In July of 1990, Mr. Hughes accepted a position with the Office of the
District Attorney, Fourth Judicial District (El Paso and Teller Counties) as a Deputy District Attorney. As a Deputy District
Attorney, Mr. Hughes prosecuted cases ranging from minor traffic cases to driving under the influence to homicide. He prosecuted
cases in both District Court and County Court.
In 1995, Mr. Hughes left the Office of the District Attorney and took
a position as an associate with the law firm of Koncilja and Koncilja in Pueblo, Colorado. Mr. Hughes handled exclusively
criminal defense matters with this firm and was in court every day defending people charged with a wide variety of crimes.
During this time, Mr. Hughes successfully defended hundreds of individuals. While working with the firm, Mr. Hughes
appeared in a majority of the jurisdictions in Colorado.
In 2002, Mr. Hughes left Koncilja and Koncilja and started the Law Office
of Ray L. Hughes, P.C. His practice is concentrated on criminal defense. He aggressively represents clients in state and local
courts charged with a wide array of criminal offenses. He has tried over one hundred cases and has successfully resolved countless
others.
Mr. Hughes is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado
Criminal Defense Bar, and the National College for DUI Defense.
